about

This piece is roughly the first half of a live set that Matthew Patterson Curry created in his studio for Mysteries of the Deep, as part of 9128.live’s 2-year anniversary streaming event on 20 August, 2021. Processed field recordings from a nature reserve in Ecuador bookend the undulating and sprawling synthesizers, peppered with bits of sampled voice. Zachary Koeber provided raw recordings of tenor saxophone which were processed and layered in to add further tonal wanderings. All resulting in half an hour of music that is simple, spacious, and oddly enchanting.
